I have experienced a policy change that was very radical to me when I worked for an organization few years back. There was a change in policy in our company and it was that people aside from the production department, every other employee from other departments would have their sick leaves counted in total leaves which was radical to me as sickness and diseases are not in the control of human. Besides when questioned, they claimed that the production department works most of the time standing so they can be given rest while the other don't which was totally an excuse to not give employees paid sick leave as much as they could get back then. This policy was implemented continuously for more than 10 months but after because of huge opposition of employees, this policy was taken down and it cleary shows the incapability of the human resource department of the organization to have such form such short-term policies which can not stay longer. HR and other senior executives should always consider long-term policies to be followed in the workplace.
