I have personally experienced a type of occupational segregation in my workplace that can be linked to Capitol Cultural Theory. As a healthcare worker, the pay rates vary based on the clientele and their specific needs, as well as the employee's work experience. Despite gaining a lot of experience over the past two years, I've noticed that other employees who do less work get paid more. When I started working in senior caregiving, I was fairly young and inexperienced, and I was treated that way. Although I didn't intend to work with cleaning or fecal matter, I was always assigned those tasks. Over time, I learned to stand up for myself and request the clients and hours that I wanted.
