I have spent some time this week working on gathering and organizing files that will be transferred to local counsel in South Carolina. I have also continued to work on drafting initial briefs and putting together Claimant documents. I have had a lot more communications this week with our clients as well as the American Arbitration Association working on correcting data, updating portal information, submitting conflict checklists and arbitrator selections. I have also worked with the attorney to file a response to an objection to the appointed arbitrator on a case. I filed for three extensions on cases today due to clients being out of the office and delaying the documents process. We are off on Friday, so it will be a short week and working extra hard tomorrow to wrap things up for a long weekend.

Attorney - There is one attorney in the office. He went to college at Virginia Tech, then came to Florida to get his JD from Stetson. He did have a partner in the past, whom he was dear friends with, but he unfortunately passed away, and my lawyer took on his clients so that they would not have to start all over with someone else.

Senior Paralegal - Has been working with the attorney almost since he started his own practice about 28 years ago. Handles litigation, all notary services and knows the ins and outs of the entire operation. Is set to retire in about 2 years.

Legal Assistant - Sits at the front desk and acts as the secretary as well as helping the senior paralegal with any filing or litigation needs. Answers phones, greets customers and helps with dictation.

Bookkeeper - Handles all things money and time. This includes payroll, paying bills in the AAA portal for our clients, working with the bank on the trust & cost accounts, balancing in time slips and QuickBooks, paying for supplies, etc.

Me - Handles mostly arbitration cases for our contract client, up until they reach lawsuit. I also am a public notary, sit and sign as witness to document signings, draft various documents as asked such as tolling agreements, deeds, settlement agreements, motions and responses. I have also sat in on final hearings and mediations (zoom only). In the near future I will begin to jump into litigation, which I am excited to learn more of!
