I have the linear regression line y = 1.49104x + 21.91415, with x=number of incident, and y=number of officers on scene; after removing outlier, linear regression line y = 1.8824x + 4.2963. The question i have to answer is:"The state governor has offered an additional funding incentive for police departments that are able to meet the standard of having a minimum of 2.5 officers onsite per incident. The police department has asked you to analyze their data to determine if the department will be eligible for additional funding, using the attached linear regression.Using the linear regression analysis, explain if the department qualifies for additional state funding, including any limitations posed by the available data to the assessment of the department's current funding eligibility." i found out the average of officer on scene is 1.889 with standard deviation of 1.189 from the raw data. My questions: 1) do i answer the question based on the given linear regression line or the one removed outlier; 1) both slope is less than 2 which means its below the min requirement of 2.5 officers, does that conclude depart is NOT eligible for the funding? 3) do i need to use the forecast in excel to answer the question? Please advise. Thank you.
