I find FactCheck.org has the best process of reviewing information and verifying its accuracy. Allowing for the source of the claim to provide their research then going to primary sources to further research reduces the likelihood that a bias will alter their findings. This site has the most stringent vetting process of the three websites provided. FactCheck.org claims to pass through four levels of editing prior to publishing while Snopes can only guarantee one editor will review the piece. MediaBiasFactCheck.com uses a self-admitted loose scientific method to report a media source's bias.

While each site has a detailed process for which they vet information accuracy, I see a gap in the process that FactCheck.org uses when receiving information from Facebook. Inherently, we all hold a level of bias that can be skewed by how that information is received. Factcheck.org has a process in which they receive links to content that has been pre-flagged as potentially false. Even with them relying on primary sources to back up claims, once we receive a tip already claiming that it may be false, it can result in the research group focusing to find data proving it is in fact false instead of its accuracy. I support their selection process of vetting all claims made during presidential remarks instead of ones predetermined to be false.

The way we receive information today is like no other time in our history. The internet has unlocked a limitless amount of information in the palm of each person's hands. With this flood of information, comes those who seek to use this as an opportunity to mislead or worse. With seldom ways to slow the current of information, it is up to the reader to pause and review the information prior to sharing or using that information in their actions. Further, even a factual statement can be misleading. Understanding how to determine what information is worthy and what is not is a skill that we must develop to navigate in today's social and political spheres.

 

2. Good afternoon, after reviewing the websites I believe methodology at media/bias fact check is the most reliable source. Snopes is possibly inaccurate material and cannot be trusted as vital correct information. They do have a corrections policy to prevent any biased information posted. "In compliance with the industry principles — and because we think being transparent with readers is the coolest — what follows is a detailed description of our editorial process, we may periodically update this page if and when any aspect of our process changes. Please let us know if you have any questions(www.snopes.com)". The transparency that snopes.com uses periodically editing information is and contacting different sources to fact check is not reliable in my opinion, and customers could be relaying bad information. It is good they explain the editorial process. They link sources where they get information from.

  The second most reliable source would be factcheck.org.  They follow a process when they select, research, write, edit and, if necessary, correct their articles. "We systematically go through transcripts and videos looking for statements based on facts. Once we find a statement that we suspect may be inaccurate or misleading, we will engage - or attempt to engage - with the person or organization that is being fact-checked (www.ourprocess.org)". Ourproceess.org goes line to line and has many reviewers to fact check in every part of their process before posting.

   Methodology in media bias fact check is the most reliable site. The site has a systematic rating of information they review. There are four different categories and rating schemes that determine bias in sources. They look into the placement of words in articles and in the headlines to determine if a reliable source. Each site has strength and weaknesses.
