I have to use the following post and compare & contrast which of the three components of the triple bottom line is most often neglected by a company & why?"Being a sustainable business is about striking the balance between shareholder expectations and the needs and concerns of our employees, the workers in our supply chain and the environment. We truly believe that acting as a responsible business - one which is fully committed to respecting human rights - will contribute to lasting economic success." (Adidas). As the second largest activewear brand in the world, Adidas continuously strives to become a more sustainable company.

Adidas received an overall good rating when it comes to their sustainability practices. They are environmentally conscious. Recently, Adidas partnered with Parley for the Oceans, an ocean conservation group, to produce products from recycled waste from the sea. There Ultraboost trainers are made from 100% recycled material, including 11 plastic bottles. Adidas has also made a commitment to reduce the waste production, energy consumption, and water at all facilities by a minimum of 20% while committing to increase the use of sustainable material and have 100% of their cotton meet the Better Cotton Initiative standards in which they are founding members. Regarding the people, Adidas received an 'A' on their labour rating which is based on the 2018 Australian Fashion Report. They list their Supplier Code of Conduct, trace and audit their supply chain, and publicly lists most suppliers. Although this is great step in the right direction, Adidas few worker empowerment initiatives. When it comes to the welfare of animals, Adidas received a fair grade. While they do not use cashmere, angora, or any other exotic animal skin or hair, they do use leather, wool, and down feather without specifying their source. Although they indicate that they use wool from non-mulesed sheep and are working with the Leather Working Group, this is still problematic as the welfare of the workers and animal are unknown and cannot be guaranteed.

The company does mention all three components of the triple bottom line. They pride themselves on good business practices and are continually working to improve sustainability across all business. I do believe that the company is honestly reporting its practices and goals. However, I think that they omit some information (i.e. leather imports) from the records. I don't think any "green washing" is occurring.
