This week we are going to explore Ch. 16-18 and hone in on Chapter 16: QUALITY MANAGEMENT.

3. Identify an organization that has achieved ISO 9000 certification and summarize the benefits and results that the organization has achieved using ISO 9000. See if you can find a service organization rather than a traditional manufacturing company.

4. Identify an organization that uses the Six Sigma DMAIC improvement approach. Describe some of the ways that this organization has applied DMAIC and the results it has achieved.

Please select 1 of the 3 topics (below) and creatively design your discussion (see Ch. 16-18). Topic 1 Select a company that is widely recognized as a quality leader. Chose a product or service that you believe is very high quality. Explain why. Use the principles of total quality to support your opinion of the product/service. Research customer reviews of the company and/or product that you have chosen and summarize the general consensus and/or ratings from consumers. Research and briefly summarize an article which supports your belief that the product or service is of superior quality. Share your opinion about how you personally define service quality. Topic 2 Select a company that has been publicly scrutinized for its low quality products or services. Choose a specific product/service that you have purchased. Share your experience with product/service and explain why the product was poor quality. Make sure you have purchased this product or service so that you can give an "expert" opinion. Explain how you (as the customer) define quality and apply the concept of "cost of quality". Use the three principles of total quality to create your own customer review of the specific product or service you have selected. Topic 3 Research a company that adheres to the principles of Six Sigma. Share a brief overview. What are the pros and cons of Six Sigma? Why have so many companies adopted the principles of Six Sigma and/or Lean Six Sigma? How is quality measured using these principles? Discuss the specific Six Sigma actions and principles your company has implemented.
