- Procedure - Calculate the mass of the sodium acetate and the volume of the acetic acid solution required to prepare acetic acid/sodium acetate buffer. The total volume of buffer is 100mL and 0.1M in each component. Weigh out the required mass of the sodium acetate. Record the mass up to two decimal places. Add the solid into the 100mL beaker. Use the 50mL beaker to get 1520mL of the acetic acid solution that you need. Pipette out the required volume of the solutions in the same 100mL. beaker containing the solid. Stir gently with the glass rod and check how much of the solid you can dissolve (if needed add few milliliters of DI water to dissolve it). Quantitatively transfer the solution into the volumetric flask and make the volume up to the mark using DI water. Cap and invert the flask ten times to mix. pH Measurement Calibration of pH-meter Calibrate the pH-meter with the standards provided. Use the two point calibration with pH4&7 solutions. Use the pH10 solution to check the calibration. Check the pH of the buffer solution you prepared. pH Range Measurement Titration with Strong Base ( 1.0MNaOH solution) & Fill the burette with NaOH solution. *. Pipette out 5mL of the buffer solution to 50mL beaker. * Titrate the buffer solution with NaOH solution in a 0.1mL increment until the pH shows a sudhen sharp jump. Plot the data using, pH of the solution ( (y axis) and volume of NaOH solution ( x axis). Use Microsoft Excel to plot the data. Titration with Strong Acid ( 1.0MHCl solution) Fill the burette with NaOH solution. * Pipette out 5mL of the buffer solution to 50mL beaker. * Titrate the buffer solution with NaOH solution in a 0.1mL increment until the pH shows a sudden sharp jump. \$. Plot the data using, pH of the solution ( y axis) and volume of NaOH solution ( x axis). Use Microsoft Excel to plot the data. Titration with Strong Acid (1.0 M HCl solution) * Fill the burette with HCl solution. *. Pipette out 5mL of the buffer solution to a 50mL beaker
