Aveo Group Limited has been operating as a retirement community to its customers for more than 25 years. In the case study the company is experiencing deteriorating condition in terms of reputation. The company has been charged with allegation that it has cheated elderly persons by charging exorbitant costs. The case study focuses on the loopholes of the organisation and the share price and has reduced in the last two years. Analysis of the case study shows that the company has undergone complex contracts, which in turn has reduced the reputation of the organisation. The above analysis needs to be done so that the need for social responsibility in the financial policy could be understood easily. The analysis further helps in determining the suitability of the company for investment by analysing the share price market the causes of fluctuations could be understood easily. 1. Critical evaluation of financial policies of Aveo Group limited 1.1 Policies relating to social responsibility Corporate social responsibility report reveals the policies related to social responsibility that could be introduced in the organisation for enhancing the efficiency. Analysis of the corporate governance report, guidelines is set describing the core principles that are necessary for good corporate governance (Lee, Park & Lee, 2013). Corporate social responsibility must be included in the financial policy statement because introduction of CSR can develop strong financial results for the organisation. The responsibility of the company can be divided into separate segments, which can be jotted down as follows: 1. Responsibility of the management team The primary responsibility of the management team is to create long term commitment for the security holders, by developing strategic policies. Preparation of long term strategies has reduced the quality of their services. Compliance of social responsibility can hamper the profit maximisation criteria of the organisation. This can be reflected from the situation that has been faced by the organisation Aveo group. Introduction of complex contracts has reduced the affectability of the organisation thereby decreasing the profitability of the organisation. Financial decisions of the organisation by increasing the price of the villages have reduced the reputation of the company. Therefore, it can be concluded that the organisation should implement social responsibility in their financial policies. Consideration of these ramifications is being done by the company. The company is now focusing on the interest protection of the customers, shareholders and communities. This could help the organization in enhancing the reputation of Aveo thereby considering the environmental and social consequences of the business. 2. Critical analysis of Aveo as investment proposition and Recommendation Investment analysis of Aveo shows that in the year the traded volume of the company was $ 300.2 million. Revenue from different projects in 2016 has reported with revenue of 445.3 $ million (www.aveo.com.au, 2016). Revenue recognition shows that revenue has been considered at fair value and has been measured reliably. The report of the 2016 analysis shows that the company has achieved the target return on sales by 6.3% (www.aveo.com.au, 2016). Statutory profit of the company has doubled in the year 2016 (www.aveo.com.au, 2016). Gearing return shows that Aveo has achieved return of 17.4% from 13.8 % that was reported in 2015 (www.aveo.com.au, 2016). Financial overview shows that in terms of earnings the return of 2015 was 10.9%, which was higher in comparison with 2016 (www.aveo.com.au, 2016). Maximum sales were reported in December 2015 where the company has reported sales of $284 million. In the year 2017 225$ million sales was reported, which shows that suitability of the company for investment needs improvement. Share price analysis of the two years shows that EPS in 2016 was 22.1 in 2016 but in 2015 the EPS was 11.6. This shows that in respect of earnings the company is suitable for investment. Further analysis of the share price shows that buy back of 9.3% of the shares was seen. $145 buyback was purchased by Mulpha (www.theweeklysource.com, 2016). 11.5% share plunge was reported due to exorbitant prices and complex contracts. Investigation shows that Labor has reviewed the retirement project of Aveo and has stated that more improvement are to be done to make the company investment suitable. Fluctuations in the financial position due to fluctuations in the profit have caused the fluctuations in share price. Reputation of the company has been hampered due to the increase in the prices of the projects. This has caused fluctuations in the share price. Increasing prices has reduced the review of the company. Further analysis shows that quality of service has also been reduced because the company has focused on price increase by ripping customers. Deterioration of EPS has also resulted in share price reduction (www.smh.com.au, 2016). Buy back of shares, which has been done by the company, must be increased so that price fluctuations could be reduced. Increasing debt reduces the stress of the company, which in turn enhances the share price of the organisation. Restructuring of the organisation by introducing flexibility in the organisation can further reduce the fluctuations of the company in respect of share price. Diversification of risk by introducing various schemes of investment can enhance the sales opportunities for the organisation. Changes in strategy by introducing churn strategy where the company is focused on increasing the price, which has caused fluctuations in sales. This fluctuation in sales can be managed by following proper inventory management. Sales fluctuations can be reduced by introducing flexible strategy that could protect the interest the investors and customers.
