Assignment 1: Lab: Browser Add-Ons

The most common service utilized on the Internet is the World Wide Web (www). Web browsers are software applications utilized to retrieve and present websites.

Basic web content is most commonly presented with the hypertext markup language (html). This formats styles, enables hyperlinks, and easily supports embedded content.

Embedded content is supported by scripts in a variety of languages as well as by add-ons or plug-ins that are tailored to the specific content or application.

In this Lab, you will explore add-ons that your browser currently has installed. Each browser maintains a list of installed add-ons. Locate this list in your browser, and select three of the add-ons to find out more about.

You will need to research each of the three add-ons. Be sure that you include your references in APA formatted in-text citations and end references.

For each of the add-ons, you must include the following information:

1. Purpose of add-on

2. Version of add-on you are utilizing

3. Most current version of add-on available

4. Potential security vulnerabilities associated with the add-on

5. Ways to address security vulnerabilities or justification as to why they are an acceptable risk
