I chose 1961-1971 for my decade and during this time, U.S. saw two presidents: JFK and Johnson. During JFK's presidency, he green lighted a tax cut policy that didn't go into effect until 1964, however, without his approval this wouldn't have happened. This tax cut of 1964 decreased rates from 18 percent to 14 percent putting an estimated $6.7 billion back into the hands of Americans (Cooper, 2012). Undoubtedly, this put more buying power into the hands of Americans and thus helped spur the economy back to life after the previous decade's recessions and especially considering not 20 years prior was the Great Depression. I don't have to be an expert in economics to know that this was for the better and had Kennedy not approved this tax cut at this time, then the 1960's would've had a whole different scenario. The Tax Cut of 1964 helped 1960s economy and who knows? Without the aid, the United States may not have had the economic foothold it needed to engage in the Vietnam War.
