1. Gabriela said? Groupthink is essentially when a group of people decide to agree on one stance, without verbally agreeing that this is what they will do. An example of this would be if person A says, "blue is the best color" and person B-E agree with them, even though they each individually have other colors that they believe are superior to blue. This can lead the group to make very narrow-minded decisions that don't include many viewpoints. Some factors that lead to this can be one person taking the lead and being a hard person to disagree with, insecurity or lack of knowledge from other members in the group, and more. One way that I think could reduce groupthink would be to have everyone write their ideas down before sharing, have an anonymous way to submit thoughts and ideas, or to have a facilitator that is inclusive and open minded.

2. Marcus said? Groupthink is a phenomenon where a group of people prioritize harmony and agreement over critical thinking and independent decision making. This method can still lead to poor decision making. One of the most infamous examples is the bay of pigs invasion that led to a bunch of critical failures and a disastrous outcome. Some critical factors that lead to groupthink are group cohesiveness, isolation from outside opinion, and a strong leader. These can lead to group mentality that prioritizes agreement more than critical thinking. '

In order to reduce groupthink start saying things to members that encourage them to speak out and get their ideas from outside the group. Teach members to start challenging the groups ideas. Also, having an impartial leader who encourages independent thinking can be counter productive to groupthinking.
