I need help to respond to this post.

The below beliefs, or self-schemas (create my self-concept).

I am a mother

I am a wife

I am a partner

I am a student

I am always looking to improve

I am a healer

I am spiritual

I am a teacher

I am a deep thinker

I am an artist

I am an optimist

I am a creator

I am an avid reader

I love learning

I am an overthinker

I am a meditator

I am compassionate

I am cautious

I am athletic

I am full of life

This was quite an interesting exercise, one that I think would be very beneficial for anyone who wants to learn more about themselves.

I can see that my self-schemas mostly relate to the traits of being helpful, and compassionate, and the role of a mother comes as a primary role. I also listed many schemas that are connected to creativity. I was aschematic on beauty or body type (however, I did mention "athleticism" but I meant it more in a lifestyle sense, not in a body type sense).

Based on these schemas, my self-concept is one of a helper, a healer, and a protector.

I also found it interesting that my statements were mostly group-affiliated, a trait of Eastern culture and how that culture sees itself. I grew up in Poland, and my family and religious association were very strong, so maybe that triggered the more interdependent view of myself. However, I also have an independent view of myself and appreciate my uniqueness, which aligns more with the Western and North American cultural orientation.

I can also relate to the idea of dialecticism, an Eastern belief system of non-duality that accepts the contradictory characteristics present in everyone.

The results of this exercise fit into the trajectory of my career and my self-concept as a helper and a teacher. I believe that as a future mental health care provider for adolescents, I will be able to direct kids and teens to gain better introspection and self-perception, by looking inward or by observing their behavior. My goal will also be to lessen the effects of social comparison, so these kids see their own value without comparing themselves to others.
