Use this section of the report to explain your work. What is the dependent variable? What are the independent variables? What are the hypothesize relations between them? Positive or negative? Section 2: The Dependent Variable Use this section to describe the dependent variable; report and explain descriptive statistics; use a scatter plot to show the variable across time or a histogram if that is more appropriate Section 3: Correlation and the Independent Variables Describe your independent variables with descriptive statistics, etc. Use a correlation table to describe the Pearson product correlations between each independent variable. Are there any surprises or are your supposed relations confirmed so far? Run simple regressions for each independent variable against the dependent variable Section 4: Multiple Regression Use a stepwise approach to derive the best possible model. Raw calculations should be kept in excel and reported in the appendix. Your final model should be presented in tabular form in the project paper. Tests for violations of the model should be discussed here too. Your narrative should explain how you reached your final model. What did you "throw" out of the original model, if anything? Section 5: Conclusion Restate the paper. Where did you start? Where did you end? What is significant? Reference List: Use the APA style guide to record your sources; should be on its own pagePROJECT DESCRIPTION This projects weights 30% of your course grade. You must have a coherent, rational and presentable project as well as an explanation of your calculation and/or data. You must find one dependent variable and three independent variables to study. You must use at least 12 periods (cases) in your study. Your data must be described in common periods. For example, if your dependent variable is reported in quarterly data and your independent variable is reported in monthly data, you must convert the monthly data into quarterly form. Example: Dependent Variable (y) = GDP for Japan. Independent Variable (x1) = Exports for Japan Independent Variable (x2) = Unemployment Rate for Japan Independent Variable (x3) = Money Supply for Japan Your work *must* be completed on business or economics data. Format Your report must be submitted in WORD though the calculations will be completed in EXCEL. The report will include 5 sections as described below. Narrative should be double-spaced. Tables and graphs should be embedded in the document. A professional looking document is expected
