Activities Using a tool appropriate to manipulating, saving and displaying text, create a Word format document that containing each of the following elements labeled appropriately, which: 1. Uses at least two (2) forms of artistic text enhancement (e.g. drop caps, small caps, colors, text backgrounds, or shadowing) in a paragraph. Be sure the paragraph is at least 5-6 lines minimum so legibility and readability impacts will be evident. You may also create these with a graphics program and then import them into the text document (20) 2. Demonstrates the legibility and non-legibility in 2 successive paragraphs by changing the typefaces and sizes. Inordinately small font size is not allowed. Paragraphs may contain the same text content or may be different (20). 3. Contains a paragraph of text using the default values from your word processor. Preceding the text, identify what these are. Next, duplicate the text paragraph twice. In the first duplicated paragraph use justification, kerning, and leading (line spacing) to enhance the message. In the second duplicated paragraph, use the same characteristics with different values to make the paragraph harder to read (note: more difficult - not impossible). Note: this section should have a total of 3 paragraphs and they must have different justification, kerning, and leading (25). 4. In two additional paragraphs, demonstrate the difference in legibility between serif and sans-serif fonts. Label each accordingly (15). 5. Creative Design Component: Demonstrate additional enhancements or effects using features in your word processor or another text tool that have not been part of the required components listed above (i.e. you must use different techniques). Note: you must include a description of what you did and the tools used to create the enhancements or effects. Simply labeling or adding more of the same components is not additional effort here (20).
