    We often create machines to do task quickly and efficiently. Of course, it can be just as fun (if not more fun) to invent machine to do task with as many intermediate steps as possible. With Mr. Rube Goldberg as your inspiration, this is going to be your task for this project. A Rube Goldberg machine is a machine that performs a complex series of steps to accomplish a simple task, like turning on a pot of coffee.

    Your Task:

    1. Do a design for your Rube Goldberg machine. Your design should include at least ten individual steps and at least four energy transformations. Do a sketch of your design, and include extra details for any components that may pose a safety hazard. For example, if you will be including an electrical component you should state the voltage and current flow that are expected. If you will be using any large masses, specify the mass (in kg) along with the measures you will take to ensure it does not cause any injuries.
    2. Construct the Rube Goldberg machine according to your design.
    3. Document your completed Rube Goldberg machine. Include the following in your documentation:
      1. A video showing the completed Rube Goldberg machine in operation.
      2. An analysis of the operation of the machine. Make sure you include the concepts of energy, work, and power (e.g., work, conservation of energy) where appropriate in your analysis of the machine. do at least four calculations about some aspect of the machine, e.g., work, power, gravitational potential energy, kinetic energy, conservation of energy, etc. and use the GRASP approach to communicate your calculations.
      3. Describe any changes you would make to the design if you were to invent a similar machine in the future.
