Klotz, Inc. advises you of the following data: their accounts receivable are 49 days old; their accounts payable are 32 days old; inventory is 95 days old; their annual sales are $360 million and their gross profit margin of 40% (you may assume that sales and purchases are spread evenly throughout the year). Presently, they are able to borrow at a rate of 9%. If Klotz, Inc. were to offer discounts to their customers (which they do not presently do), they could accelerate their collections by 10 days, since it was determined that only 30% of their customers would be taking advantage of the discount benefit. Also, Klotz, Inc. could avail themselves of a 2% discount on their accounts payable, since 25% of their suppliers do offer the discount incentive. This would essentially cut their payables down from 32 days, down to 26 days. What should they do????
