-Discrimination against the two special groups -The outcome of the discrimination incidents -The prejudice experienced by both groups in behavioral health -What can be done to avoid discrimination against these special groups?

Discrimination of children in foster care

-The foster care system in Alabama was found to be discriminating against the foster children there who had emotional and behavioral difficulties (2022). -The foster care system denies those who struggle with emotional and behavioral issues fair and equal opportunities to receive the fundamental education they need (2022). -The Americans with Disabilities Act's Title 2 is explicitly broken by this. All state/local governments are required by this law to make sure that individuals with disabilities have access to the same opportunities as those without disabilities (State and local governments, 2023).

-Negative impacts on the children -The Department of Justice opening an investigation -Lawsuits being filed

Slide 4 Discrimination of LGBTQ+members

-Because of his sexual orientation and his marriage to his current husband, Mathew's employment at a church was terminated. -He allegedly violated a "morality clause" in a contract he signed when he was hired as a teacher, according to the church. -Mathew was not given protection from discrimination because religious institutions were given wide-ranging exceptions.

Slide 6 Foster Children Prejudice in behavioral health

-Children in foster care are stigmatized as "bad kids." Instead of addressing the child's mental health, the treatment frequently focuses on improving the child's behavior. -Lack of training: Paraprofessionals are frequently unprepared to assist foster children.

Slide 7 LGBTQ+ Prejudice in behavioral health

Biases: if a paraprofessional lacks the necessary education and training, they might harbor certain views toward LGBTQ+ people. Stigmas: Discrimination against members of the LGBTQ+ community
