I need the analysis of the case

- Mark and Leslie Jones live in Tallahassee, Florida. Their 16-year-old son Eric was addicted to illegal drugs and displayed both physical and behavioral problems. In 2020, without the consultation of a psychiatrist or psychologist, the Joneses sent Eric to a therapeutic boarding school that had been recommended by friends of theirs. The school was called Bridges to Happiness and was a renowned institution where many wealthy people sent their troubled teens. The school provided both therapy and a high school education. The cost for tuition was $56,000 /year. The Joneses also incurred $5,500 in expense for travel (mileage and lodging) to attend required parent-therapy sessions at the school. In addition, they were required to deposit $3,500 into a "personal account" which was used to cover expenses associated with the therapy. In 2021, Eric ran away from the school. The Joneses then made some additional inquiries and found that some of the staff at Bridges, although they were therapists, were not credentialed as they had previously been led to believe. The school was also found not to be accredited. In addition, a number of significant "incidents" involving alleged unusual therapy methods and abuse resulted in Bridges closing in 2021. The Joneses are ready to prepare their 2020 tax return and are asking you, their tax accountant, whether they can deduct the tuition, travel costs and personal account expenses as medical expenses on their tax return (ignore any AGI limitations)
