I need two separate respond on these two answers (Do you agree or not and why):

1. Should you encrypt all network traffic to protect against unauthorized network sniffing? Why or why not?

Encrypting all network traffic while it would make the network more secure would be very expensive. A lot of investment would be required to have an infrastructure capable of doing so. On top of that encrypting, all data would also include packets that are transferred when a TV is connected to the internet. It would be better to research what data in the network needs to be encrypted and then decide to act on it rather than encrypting everything.

2. In a university environment, what ethical concerns might exist for administrators when sniffing traffic?

When it comes to network sniffing, i personally believe its the network owner's right to be able to monitor the traffic flowing through the network. The most important aspect of my point of view is security. Being aware of what goes through the network is important in order to keep it secure. Furthermore, it is also important to know what each user is doing in case of a legal issue, in which the action could be attributed to the person who commit it. However, there must be a declaration of some sort that the network is monitored.
