I personally see it as the elite model is more prevalent in the United States. Even though both models are present, the elite model gives a more accurate depiction of how political power works in the United States. With there being a concentration of economic power the influence of rich elites on policymaking and the persistence of structural inequalities point to a world of a privileged few have an upper hand in political outcomes. The overwhelming amount of money one must have to simply campaign politically is alarming and is blatant writing on the wall that this country revolves around money and financial status.
