I recently received another tip to further develop and deepen my relationship management skills. Here is the tip:

"Be obsessively interested in other people. Ask questions. Find out how you can help them. Follow up and stay in touch. Almost everything you achieve will be the result of the people you meet and the relationships you form along the way." For this week's journal entry, you will identify one person that you see or encounter on a regular basis, but don't know very well.

• The person could be someone you work with, you see at community events (like a club or at church), a neighbor, or someone you volunteer with.
• Ask that person for fifteen minutes of their time to talk with them, either in person or over the phone.
• Schedule it with them so that it is a formal appointment.
• During this conversation, exercise the advice given in this tip - be interested in them and ask questions.

After your meeting, a journal entry that :

• Describes the person you chose and how you know them
• Summarizes what you learned about them
• Discusses how this conversation has affected you
• Describe in detail how you navigated interpersonal relationship(s) thoughtfully and productively.

Please be sure to reflect before writing this entry, particularly with respect to the third item. Really think about the conversation and how it went. Did you apply active listening? Avoid interrupting? Clarify if needed?
