Question 3 [17 marks] A company produces x grams of a certain chemical per day. The cost to produce the chemical per day is given by: C(x) = 5x3 + 4x + 900 Each day, the company can sell any amount of the chemical at $6 a gram. (a) What is the revenue function, R(x)? [1 mark] (b) What is a break-even point? [1 mark] (c) Write an equation that can be used to determine how much chemical should be produced in a day to have a break-even point of the company. [1 mark] (d) Show that the amount of chemical produced to achieve a break-even point is between 400 and 600 grams. [2 marks] (e) Find an approximation for the amount of chemical produced for the break-even point by: (i) using linear interpolation once on the interval [400,600], giving your answer to the nearest whole number. [3 marks] (11) applying the Newton-Raphson process, starting with the value from part (e)(1). Give your final answer correct to two decimal places [9 marks]
