I Resolving Ethical Issues in the ACA Codes of Ethics contains standards governing the ethical violation reporting process. Reporting an ethical violation of a colleagues is one of the most serious and stressful responsibilities of a professional counselor. Some ethical violations may be directly dealt with and resolved between colleagues. Other violations are much more egregious and necessitate a formal process. Please discuss when a violation would be serious enough that you would feel obligated to bring it to the attention of an appropriate local, state, or national committee on professional ethics (i.e., where is your ethics reporting line?)
