I think a good demonstration of energy transfer is the act of weightlifting. If we take for example the bench-press, an exercise where you lay flat on a bench while bringing weight down to your chest and then pushing it back up, we can picture the transfer of energy. First, the weight has the greatest potential energy when your arms are completely outstretched. As you let the weight approach your chest, that potential energy is getting converted into kinetic energy since the weight is moving downwards. Now that the weight is at your chest and lost all of its potential energy, we have to put energy back into the system by pushing the weight back up, thus restoring its potential energy. Also, the act of pushing the weight back up to its original position is not 100% efficient. A lot of the chemical energy that is expended is lost as heat. This is why we get so hot when working out. The law of conservation of energy is preserved in this scenario. The weight maintains its total energy while being moved. Our bodies "lose" energy by heat expenditure, but that is only energy that has been converted from mechanical and chemical energy to that heat.Hey there. in my example i thought of the motion of walking up the stairs. the energy that i see being used in walking up the stair starts with the initial step. using the energy of the body to use the leg muscles and or the arm to push off the ground or proceeding steps to move up to the next step. there is a transfer of energy onto the ground when the person pushes off it the ground having a height mass is less impacted by this force
