I was asked to construct a complex hypothetical intervention study. I am still getting my head around P values, Z scores Pearsons coefficient and Cronbachs alpha. I have an understanding of how to calculate these but struggle putting them into context.

Could you please give me some idea which statistical calculation method to use and explain why and, or provide some details about any result methodologies in the context of this Intervention study. Here is a link to an article calculating compared cortisol slopes,: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.psyneuen.2016.09.025. I can't work out how to simplify this in brief statements.

Alternative Hypothesis: Six months of Adlerian therapy can reduce abnormal cortisol slopes in adults between 25-35 years old of African descent living in Australian who experience microaggressions and racist behaviours on a weekly basis.

The target population is; African American adults between 25-35 years old who are impacted by microaggressions and racist behaviour while living in Australia.

Sampling will be done from facebook groups; one for women of African descent living in Australia with 3000 members and another called African Americans living in Australia with 500 members.

Inclusion in the study is dependent on the following criteria:

Age: 25-35

Sex:Male or Female.

Length of time living in Australia, 5 years or more.

Length of time working within a predominantly white company or institution with 25 or more people, 4 years or more.

Predominantly white management in their workplace.

A middle-class income between $40,000 to $50,000 a yearand couples with children on $80,000 to $90,000 a year.

Answering 'Yes' to: I experience microaggression and or racist behaviour including comments, directed towards me at least once a week.

Psychometric testing using the Control Attitudes Scale-Revised (The CAS-R) must indicate a low level of perceived control.

Exclusion of participants who do not fall into the above category or have diagnosed mental illnesses or are pregnant.

Participants qualified are pretested for cortisol slopes. This test procedure is referred to as (Cortisol Slope Test). Participants provide saliva samples four times a day on days 2-5 over a six week period. The daily collection time points occurred immediately upon waking, 30 min later, before lunch, and at bedtime. Cortisol concentrations are quantified with a commercially respected lab.

Participants are randomly assigned into a control group and experimental group. Both groups view racist media, written material and write three microaggressions or racist events directed at them occurring in the last month. The Cortisol slope test is readministered.

A 20 week invention of Adlerian therapy, one session per week, is administered to the experiment group participants. Both groups resit the racist material experience with slightly different material and the Cortisol Slope Test is readministered.

Participants are removed from study who experienced independent stressful events. Evaluated through self report interviews; An example of these events include experiencing a death of someone close to them, moving house, breaking up with a partner, being fired at work.

RESULT METHODOLOGIES - please help

Results from cortisol slope pre test prior are compared to the cortisole slope test racist material experience one, Results from Cortisol slope test after racist material experience 1 are used again to compared to Cortisol slope test after therapy intervention and racist material 2 experience producing data. The difference in cortisol slopes is noted for each comparison and the comparisons are compared. The statistical significance is calculated/(to be further outlined)
