I was working on my statistics homework, and I have some questions regarding the questions.
Hope you could provide relavant information and descriptions for each question.
For example, I am not quite sure what this texbook means by the point estimate.
For Questions 1-2, (a) use a distribution of sample means using raw scores and z scores for all possible random samples of the provided sample size, (b) compute the z score for the provided sample mean and locate it on the distribution of sample means, and (c) use the sample mean's z score and the unit normal table to find the desired probability.
1. Researchers take a sample of 27 toddlers who were all born prematurely and score them on visual acuity. They want to know how the population of prematurely born infants compares to the population of toddlers who were carried to full term on mean visual acuity score: = 45, = 6, N = 27, M = 44. Find probability of sample mean M = 44 or lower.
2. Use the information in the previous question to estimate the mean difference in visual acuity scores between the population of toddlers born prematurely and those carried to full term. In other words, compute the 95% CI for the mean difference in visual acuity.
3. What is the point estimate?
4. Compute the MOE. What is the UB and LB?
5. Which is a correct interpretation of the UB and LB values?
A. The mean difference in visual acuity score of the population of toddlers born prematurely and those carried to full term could plausibly be as low as the LB or as high as the UB.
B. We are 95% confident that the sample mean difference in visual acuity scores of the population of toddlers born prematurely and those carried to full term is between the UB and LB values.
C. Ninety-five percent of all scores are between the UB and LB values.
