I work at a company that gives free massages to all the employees, plus disability insurance coverage, and free coffee, tea and water to all employees, is this taxable to me?
Last year in July, I was seriously injured moving a large box at work and I received $5,000 in reimbursement for medical bills first paid out of pocket by me from my employer-provided health insurance. But the health premiums in 2019 were paid by my Employer total $6,000.I also received $15,000 for disability pay since I could not work for the next 4 months. I also received $10,000 for damages for personal physical injury. And $200,000 for punitive damages.
What amounts from 2019 listed above are taxable to me?
Lastly, I own my personal residence property with a fair market value less than the amount of the outstanding mortgage on the property and also less than the original cost basis. I was able in 2019 to convince the mortgage holder to reduce the principal amount on the mortgage. Debt is recourse.
Is this taxable to me?
Would my tax impact change if the property I owned was a rental property?
Also, can I claim my 28-year-old brother who works at Starbucks. I provide all his support. He makes only $11,000 per year at Starbucks.
