I work at the Westin Hotel in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina and we do valet for the residents that are staying in the hotel. While we roughly know how many check-ins we will have at the hotel due to calls, we are always unsure if they are getting dropped off by an uber or will be doing valet with us. By the amount of check-ins we know that are for sure going to be coming in on a certain day, we have to decide how many workers to staff for the day and estimate how many cars we will be valeting on that day. Week days tend to be much slower than the weekends and things like events and sports games in the city can alter how many customers we will be seeing. We only have a certain amount of spots in our valet garage and when it exceeds the amount of cars that can fit, there are two options for customers. First, they can put their car somewhere else because we are full or second, they can pay double and keep their car up front but it costs double per day for the customer. Our valet is open 24/7 and only can fit 200 cars in the garage and the hotel can host up to 1000 guests. When there are around 100 cars in the garage, we like to keep four members on staff to help pull the cars and park new check-ins. At the start of every week we have to sit down and go day by day and look at how many cars we are expecting and make our schedule based on the predicted numbers. If there are expected to be between 50-75 cars coming into the hotel per day, how many workers should the company schedule
