If that is the case, then communicate with management to let them know that you will be later than expected. Also, if an employee calls in, than give as much notice as they can, for instance, 3 hours prior to their scheduled shift. 3 hours will give management enough time to cover your scheduled shift with another person or as other employees to stay over to cover most of the shift. If there is an emergency, than not later than 1 hour. By doing this, it covers all of the employees for notice on if they need to come in early, stay late, or come in on their day off if they have a call in. Having employees call in often puts more stress on the rest of the employees and management to pick up the slack if the employee that called in just doesn't want to work.
