I would like to touch on how my organization handles recent hires. I don't believe its any secret that the civilian personnel hiring approach the Department of Defense uses is antiquated and doesnt best serve either the organization or those in which who are hired. First, the job must be publically posted on USA Jobs for all potential hires to see worldwide. Then there is a algorithm that gives an edge to Wounded Warriors, Military Spouses, Overseas hires and a wide variety of other categories. This is the fine and dandy part, the troubling part is that the system then electronically determines who are qualified after an electronic scrub is conducted. The issue with this if key words are omitted from a members resume, they will never be considered which potentially could leave the most qualified member out of the running. Then the interview process is conducted and a board of hiring authorizes determine who to hire. My recommendation is to one remove the criteria that gives points to wounded warriors and military spouses as controversial as that may sound. At the end of the day, the most qualified candidate needs to be hired as a government civilian is serving
