I'd like you to help to solve the exercise of text. Would it be possible to explain why businesses that develop modified organisms should be able to preserve their property rights by patenting such organisms and why such organisms should not be patentable.

(Exercise) Diamond v. Chakrabarty, 447 U.S. 303 (1980), was a United States Supreme Court case dealing with whether genetically modified organisms can be patented. Reserch the case and explain and give some examples as modern society's problem.

[NOTE] Quoting from Internet dictionaries (e.g.Merriam-Webster,Encyclopedia Britannica) is not allowed. Need to try not to over-use of quoted material especially direct quotation. If your work seems will be over volume, I am OK with you answer limited not for whole questions.

Research the issue online to develop supporting facts and arguments for each position. If you begin with a Google search of "patenting organisms" you will find several articles from institutions of higher education and government organizations that will present a good overview and various perspectives on the issue. Look for URLs ending in ".edu" and ".gov."
