Welcome to Unit II! As we continue our journey to explore the psychological foundations of leadership, we now will turn our attention to the influence tactics used by leaders. Reflecting upon two of the domains of psychological leadershipsocial and organizationalalready discussed, we will first examine the role of relationship management upon influence by leaders. Next, we will explore how the leader must continually assess followership and diverse responses of commitment, compliance, and resistance, using diverse tactics to win. Then, we will reflect upon our own experiences with good and bad leaders to determine the nature of influence that was utilized. To conclude, we will review at a high level various strategies that are grounded in two noteworthy leadership styles, transformational and charismatic, in order to positively influence followers toward an objective vision and mission.
