Project Purpose/ Background: There has been a lot of discrimination against intersectional communities worldwide, and even with social reforms and laws supporting these communities, there are still many misconceptions that lead to challenges. Our organization has always been interested in bridging these gaps to make it easier for people to understand and accept these differences to make this world a better place. To tackle these challenges and give a platform to these communities, our organization has created a project called Sections: A visual art show. Our objective is to conduct a 3-day Visual art show with 21 artists from different intersectional communities in the span of the next six months within an expense limit of $215,000. This will provide the artists and the communities with a platform to voice their concerns and bring art that has not been mainstream in the limelight. 2 Humber College, Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology - Project Management Post Graduate Program 2 Strategic Alignment: Our organization, Future Foundation, has been meaning to enter the art market and establish connections with individuals and communities that value and thrive in the world of art. We firmly believe in bridging the gap between communities and the public, and this event serves as an exceptional platform to demonstrate our support for intersectional communities while simultaneously achieving our strategic objectives. Furthermore, this project presents a valuable opportunity for us to connect with like-minded organizations that share similar goals and visions, allowing us to enhance our networking capabilities and expand our organization to multiple locations. This project not only aligns with our organization's goals and objectives but also encapsulates the essence of what we represent and stand for. The financial growth of organization is based on two major elements: The art created by these artists would always be original and distinctive, the artwork pricing will depend on factors such as complexity of work, scale of it and also artists popularity. In our show when the artwork is sold, 10% of the commission will be deducted from the total selling price and contribute to the growth and development of our future foundation. The secondary source of revenue is from contributions given by High-net-worth individuals, associations and groups supporting intersectional communities. The donations received will support us in organization operations and activities. On the other hand, we can enhance our upcoming programs, events and also plan for future endeavors. 3 Humber College, Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology - Project Management Post Graduate Program 3 With all the financial and non-financial advantages of this project, along with its alignment with our organizations beliefs and mission statement, this projects success will not only help us achieve greater things for the communities and our organization but also create a positive impact in the world and bring in new opportunities. 4 Humber College, Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology - Project Management Post Graduate Program 4 Project Scope: The objective of this project is to plan, organize, and conduct a 3-day art event starting December 1st for featuring 21 artists from Intersectional communities, specifically Queer, and Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC). The aim of this event is to showcase and manage an interactive inclusive platform created for the artists from these communities to showcase their works, promote diversity, and representation in the community, as well as engage with high-networth individuals and attendees for selling the artwork or getting potential donations for the communities. Final Deliverables: The final deliverable of our project contains several parts to consider the project successful and finished. Our scope includes: 1. Successfully executing a 3-day Visual Art show featuring 21 artists from Intersectional communities (Queer, & Black Indigenous People of Color) starting on December 1st, 2023. 2. Procurement of all third-party services including decorators, caterers, serving staff, curators, light and sound technicians on time for smooth operations of the project. 3. Inviting all the high-net-worth individuals to the event as guests to increase sales of the artworks. 4. One-way transportation for artworks that will be displayed in the show in a safe and secure manner. 5. Donation counters are set for people to donate to the communities directly. 7. Food and refreshments will be provided to all the attendees of the show. 8. Art transportation services provided to buyers. The project however excludes the following services from our scope: 1. The organization will not be providing art insurance for the art displayed outside the gallery. 2. The organization will also not be providing transportation for the gallery attendees. 3. One way transportation costs for artworks will not be borne by the organization except if the artwork has been bought. 4. The organization will only be working with fine arts and will not include any works with respect to literature or performing arts. Project Customer(s): Project Team: Upon the success of the Visual art show, the project team would have displayed excellent skills that are required to pull off a major stakes event which will lead to earning a good reputation within their own organization. Organization: The organization will benefit from the positive reputation gained through hosting an inclusive and diverse Visual Art Show. This will also display the organization's zeal to work with intersectional communities in any form possible. Successful completion of this project will also help the organization to find a good gateway into the art market and industry. 6 Humber College, Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology - Project Management Post Graduate Program 6 External Customers: - Artists: Artists who are participating will not only just gain exposure and recognition in the communities but also an opportunity to establish their names and expand their network by connecting with HNIs. They will also be representing their communities, which will assist them in making their name in these communities as well. - Public: This art show will give an opportunity to the people of the city to come and experience the works created by various artists from diverse backgrounds. It will also contribute to sparking conversations between people and spreading awareness through the public. - Communities: The intersectional communities that lack equal representation will not just be recognized but also celebrated through the artists. This will also promote diversity of culture and lead to a sense of inclusion and pride inside the communities that are being represented. - High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs): The show will give HNIs an opportunity to discover and acquire fine art pieces by artists from intersectional communities which may also serve as a platform for these individuals to support artists and contribute towards the growth of the art and intersectional communities. Project Decision Criteria: After careful consideration, we have determined that the priority order for our project decision criteria will be scope, time, and budget. Here's the rationale behind this decision: Scope: The scope of the project is our primary focus and holds the highest priority. As the event 7 Humber College, Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology - Project Management Post Graduate Program 7 involves multiple stakeholders, artists, logistics, and various components, it is important to ensure that all aspects of the project are well-defined, planned, and executed. Giving priority to scope will help maintain the integrity of the event, meet the expectations of all parties involved, and deliver a successful visual art show. Time: Time is the second priority as the event date has already been finalized and communicated to the public. Any delays or changes to the timeline could potentially lead to event cancellation, chaos, and negative consequences for both the artists and the organization. Adhering to the set schedule is essential to ensure a smooth and successful execution of the event. Budget: While the budget remains an important aspect of the project, it is given the third priority in this case. The initial cost estimates and budget allocation have been deemed sufficient to cover the expenses of the project. If the project stays within the allocated budget, there is a reasonable assurance that the necessary resources can be secured to deliver the event successfully. By prioritizing scope, time, and budget in this order, we aim to ensure that the project meets its objectives, adheres to the set timeline, and operates within the allocated resources, resulting in a well-executed visual art show that satisfies both internal and external stakeholders.
