If there's on benefit of using RFID in the supply chain management, it will be for either inventory management and distribution. This would be preferable for low risk-high volume assets. The idea of keeping track of what comes in and out, and use a checkpoint system to track progress of delivery at a inexpensive budget is how I believe RFID will make good use. As mentioned in the reading, RFID is based on radio frequencies. Designating certain shipments with a short range frequency will be enough to not use oversophisticated GPS technology. After all, it would be overkill to go all in if an all inputs and outputs are handled locally in-house. I believe Boeing uses a system similar when it comes to tracking registered tools, bolts, and even staff. In short, the big benefit is not making simple operations expensive in when it comes to logistical data gathering, and keeping it semi-in real time
