If you live with your parents and depend on them for your tuition it is likely that when the ask you to do something you are more likely to do it. If you live on your own and are financially dependent, you are less influenced by these requests. Imagine you parents want you to go out on a date with someone you don't like. You will or will not go on this date depending on your dependence with your parents for key resources. You can try to buffer this influence somewhat by buying your parents gifts, strategically not answering your phone, claiming to be busy etc. Resource dependency deals with the strategic moves you make to influence these dependency relationships (however you can) to make your own life easier. When you depend on others for resource these others have power and influence on your behaviors. If you can buffer this power, you can claim some of the power back.

1) How is resource dependency different from coalition theory?

2) How is resource dependency similar to organizational learning?

3) What two researchers developed resource dependency theory?

4) "An organization's behavior can be explained by looking at the organization's context" explains what concept within resource dependency theory?
