I'm trying to make this code print out a message where if the string in reverse equals the input value, then i would print out "value is equal to result".

Example: mom is equal to mom

So far, I can write strings in reverse.

Please help me out. I'm wondering why it isn't printing out "mom is equal to mom".

import java.util.Scanner; public class StringReverse { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("Enter a string value "); String value = in.nextLine(); int i = 0; String result = " "; for (i = value.length()-1; i >= 0; i--) { result = result + value.charAt(i); } if (value == result) { System.out.println(value + " is equal to " + result); } System.out.println(result); } }
