Imagine that you are a part of your zoos Exhibit Design committee. As weve discussed, the zoo is relatively small and has limited resources. The zoos Executive Director has negotiated a promise of funding with the city which will provide $2 million in taxpayer funds over the course of 5 years. These funds are to be allotted to the development of an exhibit space for an exciting new species. However, because the funds will come from the local community, the city believes that visitor wants should be prioritized over those of the animals and their care staff. That is, disproportionately more money should be spent on air conditioning units, benches, transportation, and other human pleasantries than on the animal welfare or keeper safety and husbandry components.Write a letter to your city council members in opposition to this plan of action. Explain why this is ultimately not the best course of action, keeping in mind the mission and philosophy of the zoo. Justify your opinion with sources.
