Imagine your group (team) is part of a medium-sized market research company and is responsible for designing, managing and delivering research projects. Before any market research study is conducted, the client will submit a Request for Proposal (RFP) to several market research companies asking them to bid on a market research study that they would like conducted, to answer important questions about how their product(s) are performing in the marketplace.

Your task this unit is to provide a Market Research Proposal in response to such an RFP. It will be helpful, before you start your MRP, if you outline what this RFP says, to provide you with a structure upon which to develop your proposal. [See link below for how to structure an RFP]

Please conduct a search of the internet or use the Herzing library resources to find information about how a market research proposal should be written. You will receive credit for strong proposal design and sound methodology. Don't forget to cite your research references. You should identify the company, product(s) and market/industry upon which the research proposal will be based.

This proposal should present a strong argument for why your company is the best market research vendor for the job. At minimum, it needs to include sections on Background, Program Design, Research Methodology, Sample Design, Professional Fees, Deliverables and Schedule, as well as a section that provides the background and experience of those who will be working on the project. Factors to be considered are:

define the geographical parameters of the project and make sure you are very specific about who you will be interviewing and how you will be collecting the data.

Develop a budget in Excel to be submitted with your MR proposal for grading. Budget should support the Professional Fees you are charging. [This budget would not be sent to the client].

Group will be developing the questionnaire and sample design in detail during Unit 4, but will need to provide some information on both with this proposal.

The easiest type of MR study to design is probably one that is based on customer satisfaction. If you choose this type of research design, the proposal should focus on how to define the satisfaction of current customers with the performance of the company's products and how the study will provide recommendations for the client based on the results.

In upcoming units, your group will create the responses to the questionnaire that you design (you will not have to conduct any real interviews) and this data will then be analyzed by using statistical techniques that you will learn from the Excel Tutorials to be found in Unit 6.

Prerequisites: check out the Excel Tutorials that show you how to perform the basic statistics you will need for the Unit 6 assignment, where analyze the data generated by responses to the questionnaire. It would be a good idea to become familiar with these tools before Unit 6.
