In 2009, a company called Ledraplastic was manufacturing exercise balls that the company called "burst resistant" and claimed to be able to withstand 600 pounds. That year a player for the NBA's Sacramento Kings, Francisco Garcia, was doing a DB bench press exercise on one of the balls while being supervised by the team's strength coach. Garcia says he had a 90lb DB in each hand and the ball burst causing him to fall and fracture his forearm. Garcia's attorney claimed that testing of other balls showed that they burst with only 400lbs. The Kings sued Ledraplastic for the salary they paid Garcia while he was out and Garcia sued for pain and suffering.
