In 2016 the VA suspended its contract with Epic. Various efforts and millions of dollars were spent to upgrade its "in house" system Vista A. In 2017, then VA Secretary Shulkin led the agency to contract with Cerner. Problems arouse. There were many changes in leadership. Over time, key stakeholders have been highly critical and congress has established oversight.
