In a factory, you are responsible for the disposal of waste water with a pH of 0.1. The amount of waste water in the tank is 2500m3. (10 pts in total) a) What volume of base would you have to add, if the concentration of the available base (NaOH-solution) is 1 mol/L? Hint: the waste water should be seen as a single-protonic acid. (7 pts) b) The mixing has to happen in a different tank with a volume of 4000m3. Will it be possible to process all waste water in one batch, or would you have to process it in more than one batch? In the latter case, how many batches would you have to process? Reason your answer! (2 pts) c) Costs for waste water disposal are related to the total amount of it. Your plant manager asks you, to reduce the costs, but reduction of waste water itself is not possible. That means, you have to change something on the treatment side. What would you suggest? (1 pt)
