In a process, we begin with raw material to make pastry. It is a special shape of the pastry, such that the first step is mixing the ingredients to make the pastry dough (operation A). This dough now takes two parallel paths; a part of the dough undergoes operation B and then Operation C. The Second part of the dough from operation A undergoes operation D. Ultimately, the products of operation C and D are together used in operation E to finish the pastry making process. Operation E cannot be carried out if C and D are not completed. Each operation is performed by a separate resource (operation A is performed by Lowell; Operation B is by Julio, Operation C by Justin, Operation D by Jason and Operation E by Kevin ). Operation A takes 8 minutes, Operation B takes 4 minutes, Operation D takes 9 minutes, and Operation E takes 10 minutes. Further, Justin can process 10 operations per hour.
