Measurements made in a certain section of the column showed that the bulk concentration of ammonia in the gas phase was 0.85 as a mole fraction and 0.1 in the liquid. In the sampled region of the column, the temperature is 27C and the pressure is 1atm. At the flow conditions used, the local liquid phase mass transfer coefficient kL=2.9105kmol/m2.s and the local Sherwood number for the gas phase can be taken as 40 . The diffusion coefficient of ammonia in air is 2.3105m2/s. Find the mass transfer flux of ammonia, a) Using the film mass transfer coefficients kx and ky, b) Using the total mass transfer coefficient Ky and Kx.
