In CH 11 of the Foster text, the author takes a lot of time to describe how process control charts, and the statistical analysis behind them, can be applied to production and manufacturing processes. However, the same principles can be applied to service based industries as well. Suppose that you manage customer service and support for a technology company. You have systems in place to collect data for all customer calls and inquiries - all incidents. Describe how you would use process controls to ensure you are delivering quality customer service. Clearly identify what variables you would measure and specify what parameters you would monitor to ensure service is being delivered within tolerable levels.
