In Chapter 13 of our book, the author lists three main reasons why software architecture is important. These three reasons are extracted from the book "Software Architecture in Practice" by Bass, Clements, and Kazman. There are other reasons described in the SA book, but I think our reference Chapter gives a good highlight of those reasons.

*It provides a representation that facilitates communication among all stakeholders.

*It highlights early design decisions that will have a profound impact on all software engineering work that follows.

*It constitutes small, intellectually graspable model of how the system is structured and how its components work together.
