In chapter 14 it talks about the importance of the railroad and how it changed transportation. The train is one of the greatest inventions that has ever been made. It changed the way we transported everything. We used to have to rely on horse drawn carriages to move around people and goods, but now we can move many more people and lots more goods farther and much faster. It used to take days maybe even weeks to transport goods from one state or town to another and now we can do it in just a couple hours or just a day. The train is still a pivotal mode of transportation more now for goods we need to transport across the country than for people but it is still used in larger cities to get around. If it wasn't for the invention of the train than I don't believe our country would have developed as well as it did. Without the invention of the train our country would have taken longer to expand and we possibly could have been snuffed out by another powerhouse country.
