In keeping with the idea that leadership can be learned, Liu et al. (2021) asserted that leadership development occurs not just during one's adult life but is a process that begins much earlier and continues even beyond retirement (p. 1). This claim advances the understanding of leadership development suggesting that leadership development occurs over the entire course of one's life and not exclusively in the workplace (Liu, 2021, p. 1)
