Questions & Answers:
Q: What does leadership mean to you?
A: Leadership is the capacity to guide others to intellectual freedom and to inspire others to achieve their goals and reach their highest potential.
Q: What strengths do you believe you have as a leader? What weaknesses?
A: Strengths - The capability to motivate others and the ability to communicate effectively.
B. Weaknesses - I sometimes do not interact with each patient or trainee personally as much as I would like to.
Q: What obstacles have you faced as a leader? How did you overcome them?
A: I have had many learning experiences and challenges that paved the way for personal growth. I for a while struggled with change. I was set in my ways and had to learn to adapt to change. I started asking the trainees daily for their opinion on questions that would usually be answered by my licensed staff or myself.I began to challenge the residence to help in setting their goals and allowed accountability to replace behavioral consequences. I found I too achieved personal growth and found freedom in the process.
Q: When you lead, do you lead by example?
A: I do. I believe in holding myself to the same standards as I would expect from others and if I ask them to do something then as their mentor, teacher, or Dr., I should be willing to demonstrate it for them first. That's what leaders do, lead and guide others in accomplishing goals,

inspire others to achieve those goals and encourage them to believe in the achievement of those goals.
Q: What are your core values?
A: My core values are honesty, integrity, compassion, and respecting others.
Q: Do you consider yourself fair in your leadership role?
A: I can say that as I grew into a man and started to really understand biblical teachings that I realized that everyone deserves a fair chance and the right to their own opinions and that it is not up to us to judge. It is up to us to keep our minds open and compassion in our hearts even when we do not agree with the other person's way of processing or thinking.
Q: Do you reward your patients or staff for accomplishments or completing goals? If so, how?
A: Yes, I know from years of experience that encouragement, recognition, rewarding accomplishments large or small, and caring are all essential to building personal relationships and trust, and without personal relationships and trust any foundation will crumble and cease to exist.
Q: What advice would you give me for success in my future leadership goals?
A: I would tell you that faith, prayer, and biblical wisdom should be your foundation. I would tell you to believe in yourself, trust the Lord, and love others and you will find success and prosperity in all aspects of your life.
Note:
I then thanked Dr. Stanely for his time and valuable input. I alsotold him about Kouzes & Posner's "5-step exemplary leadership scale" (which he was already aware of). I suggested he infuse his teachings and patient care with the text to help everyone understand better. Dr. Stanley assured me he would.
Analytical Leadership Interview & Reflection Essay Introduction
Kouzes and Posner, Authors of "Everyday People, Extraordinary Leadership" offer a multitude of strategies that enable a leader to encourage and guide others. Additionally, in a team-player environment, to ensure success in their groups or organizations (2021). I plan to gather from Dr. Roger A. Stanley his personal journey as a leader by assessing his leadership experiences and strategies. Dr. Robert Stanley and I held a phone interview on February 16, 2024. The information provided should reveal evidence of several concepts presented within the Leadership Challenge and ultimately confirm the reliability of Kouzes and Posner's ideas to establish a work of lasting value. The purpose of this interview is to analyze leadership through the interview with Dr. Stanley and through the art of incorporating its strengths & weaknesses in comparison to Kouzes and Posner's principles in "Model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart" (Kouzes and Posner, 2004, p.2).
Brief Summary of the Leadership Analysis
Kouzes and Posner's texts show how leadership plays an essential role in transitioning others from serving as followers to serving as leaders to develop and accomplish a vision that lasts (2021). Kouzes and Posner provide all the proper steps to exemplary leadership and success within our organizations, Churches, or groups (2021). Kouzes and Posner's text suggests that exemplary leaderscontinuously challenge those they lead and enhance their leadership strategies, so they have the knowledge and tools necessary to teach, mentor, and lead others most effectively(2021). Leadership is a balance between making hard decisions and accepting change. Kouzes and Posner offer various steps to allow leaders to strengthen their personal sense of unity and responsibility within their organization (2021). During the interview I asked Dr. Stanley what leadership meant to him, and he responded, "Leadership is the capacity to guide others to intellectual freedom and to inspire others to achieve their goals and reach their highest potential."
