In logistics and supply chain management, track and trace is the process of determining the specific current location of a shipment or an individual package out of a shipment. Italso provides information on the past locations of the shipment or package. To facilitate tracking and tracing, the logistics service provider would offer visibility services to "follow" the movement of the outbound or inbound shipment until it reaches the final destination. Customers can get either real-time information about the shipment through online applications, or periodic updates through proactive notification reports.
